Iโm sorry you all are receiving this so late. Trying to automate the timing of these devotions has been wonky for me... But here it is!
This is the final Sunday before the start of Holy Week. In Jesusโ story, I imagine things were pretty hectic for Him and the disciples. In Scripture, the things that lead up to this day include Jesus healing the blind, teaching parables, causing plots to kill Him and Lazarus, and all of this leading up to a 58 mile walk from Jericho to Jerusalem. Jesus was a busy guy...
Many of us are busy. Itโs easy to be distracted by whatever it is we need to do. Taking the kids to basketball practice, going to work, making your Life Group, even vacation planning adds to our plate. It never ends; thereโs always something.
Thatโs why I like the season of Lent. Itโs a time to call timeout and return to Jesus. Time to readdress our sin and focus on the fact that we need God for everything. Thereโs so much we think we do, but thereโs nothing we do in our own strength. Every ounce of energy, focus and talent that we use comes from the Lord, and it can quickly be taken away. Itโs important to remind ourselves of that - even if it takes being hungry for several hours and turning to the Lord.
Psalm 93 tells us:
The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting.
Be sure to turn to Him today, no matter how busy you are. The King of the Universe is waiting.
In Christ,
PD
